Cedar Seal: a Clear "Transparent" Premium Grade Exterior Waterborne Stain That Seals and Protects Cedar Against Weather and Sun Damage.
People are protecting their Cedar! Western Red Cedar, White Cedar, Cedar Shakes, Cedar Deck Furniture, Cedar Fencing, Cedar Decking, Cedar Siding, Cedar Roofing, Cedar Log Homes, Cedar This and Cedar That. Cedar is beautiful wood, don't cover it with a color stain, let it's beauty show.
Available in 1gallon and 5 gallon containers.(use the drop down menu above that is set by default to 1 gallon above to order the 5 gallon size)
Newly installed cedar shingle siding and cedar shake roofing is a beautiful piece of workmanship to look at. If only it could stay that way. Well it can but it takes some work. If you just installed or had cedar installed "seal it" before the water gets into the wood and the mold spores start growing. Mold will start growing after the first rain and within 2 years the cedar will be all spotted with mold and on some sides of the house (north) it may be covered in mold. A single coat of Cedar Seal will give you 5 years of protection and you can retain that "just installed" look.
If you happen to have older cedar, give it a good cleaning then apply Cedar Seal and keep it looking clean.
After Cedar Seal is applied it dries clear (transparent) so that you can see the beautiful cedar. Cedar Seal does have a slight tint that actually enhances the look of the cedar. The tint provide UV protection from the suns damaging rays. It's the suns rays that "gray" the wood.
Cedar Seal coats the wood not allowing water to enter the wood but enabling the wood to breath, which is very important. Wood needs to breath because in some situations water gets behind the wood where there was no cedar sealer applied but being able to breath allows the wood to dry quickly. The key is not letting the water enter the wood from the front side, if water can't enter the wood then mold can't grow. Roof moss is a problem in some states and moss attaches itself to the cedar roof shakes and sucks the water out of it. A thick coat of moss will rot a hole in your roof.
Cedar Seal has mold inhibitors in the stain that will prevent mold growth.
Cedar Seal provides the 3 biggest factors that a good exterior stain should provide.
- Provides UV Protection
- Repels Water
- Resists mold growth
Cedar Seal is an environmentally friendly solution:
- It has no Odor
- It has low VOC's
- it is water based
Cedar Seal is so easy to apply, just put it in a pump sprayer and spray the cedar. No painting, no rolling, no back brushing eliminating hours of application time. Painting skills are not necessary to be able to apply this cedar sealer. Clean up is easy also, just soap and hot water.
Another benefit of using Cedar Seal is when it comes time for another coat of stain, there is no sanding, no scraping. If you didn't let it go to long without another coat you can just spray it right over the last coat but if it did go a little to long just quickly clean the house and spray the cedar sealer on again.
Note: This product will not be sold at our retail outlets, we are only able to sell this product online, it is very expensive to produce, if we shipped it out to the retail stores the consumer would pay about $60 per gallon. I'm sure that you have all tried the mass marketed deck and wood sealers like "Thompsons ™" and most of you have had a bad experience or the seal just did not last. As the saying goes "you get what you pay for", it's not that Thompsons™ is a bad product, it's just not that strong, in fact it's very weak. You need at least 2 coats of that wood sealer and you need to re-coat every year. These wood sealers that we are producing are made from the best possible ingredients and at maximum strength. Every manufacture has the option to go full strength or "water down" their products to produce a product that they can sell cheaper or to increase profits. Since day one we have chosen to provide our customers with the highest quality products available. We don't have the luxury of a million dollar TV ad campaign, we survive off of "word of mouth" advertising so only the best for our customers.
Review with photo's:
To whom it may concern:
I recently undertook a project to restore my western red cedar fence which was installed last year. I researched numerous products and was somewhat skeptical of the results shown by Cedar-wash. That said, I purchased the Cedar-wash and Cedar-seal anyway, along with a power washer, a roller, and some brushes. The results were outstanding. The Cedar-wash broke down the mildew that had built up over the last year and washed off easily. The Cedar-seal was easy to put on and went on clear....only enhancing the tones in the cedar. I have provided the before and after pictures. Great product...thanks.
Mike Parro

The "before and after" pictures above were sent in from a happy customer, I'm sure you can see why he is happy! that fence looks beautiful! we try to verbally explain to our customers that the Cedar Seal enhances the color of the natural wood and this is exactly what we are talking about. you can expect these results on woods other than Cedar too, if you like the natural wood look than Cedar Seal is the product for you. Thank you Mike Parro for these great pictures and the nice words. We insist on putting out the highest quality products available and it sure is rewarding to see the results our products on a project such as this.
Application Directions:
- If the cedar is not new then a complete cleaning is needed prior to applying the Cedar Seal. We at Wash Safe manufacture a product called "Cedar Wash", which is an Eco-safe cleaning solution the will remove all mold spores and organic debris. The Cedar Wash also removes the microscopic outer layer of dead wood and leaves a fresh layer of beautiful cedar (cleaners like bleach will not remove that layer of wood). Cedar Wash is the perfect preparation for Cedar Seal. Read about Cedar Wash here.
- Allow 48 hours to dry.
- Apply Cedar Seal, it can be brushed, rolled or sprayed, spraying being the easiest. Apply 1 liberal coat, always apply from the top down.
Cedar Seal will provide 5 years of protection, we recommend not pushing it right to the 5 year mark to reapply, rather reapply on the 4th year.
Coverage: each gallon will cover 200-300sq ft depending on the slope, age of wood and how dry the wood is. Newly applied cedar will yield greater coverage, the older and drier the wood the more product will be needed.

Goes on smooth and easy. Review by Sam
Overall I make home made cedar benches, I told John I'd test this new product and give it a professional review. It goes on smooth and easy, I brushed it, it did not leave brush marks and dried evenly, when the bench dried I sat on it for my real test and when i got up my pants did NOT stick to the bench. You have a winner here and a new customer congratulations on your new product. (Posted on 4/21/11)

Our roof looks impressive. Review by Robert
Overall Coverage was not 250 sq/ft closer to 200 sq/ft but that's my only complaint. I sprayed my entire roof by myself in one weekend, it goes on fast, just spray and go. The drip at the bottom of the shakes dried right up they didn't harden like tear drops like most sealers do. The "tint" they say it has is just enough. Our roof looks impressive, I sent pictures too maybe they can post those. you can't go wrong with this Cedar Seal and I'm not an easy guy to impress. (Posted on 4/19/11)

I highly recommend it. Review by Dan Holley
Overall I told you I would review this when I bought it. I'm happy to say that the Cedar Seal lived up to the hype. As a contractor I always try new products on my own home first before I risk damaging a customers home. Living in the Hamptons cedar shingle siding is very popular, most every beach home has some cedar. My home is now clean, sealed and looking beautiful. The homes in our area all need to be cleaned and sealed, it's going to be a busy summer. For you contractors reading this review, this product is simple use and the finished look is just what I hoped for. I highly recommend it. (Posted on 3/29/11)
