To maintain a beautiful looking deck the deck must be kept water tight. If water enters the decking, green and black mold starts to appear. When the mold visually appears on the decking surface, the deck get's slippery and dangerous when the deck is wet. At this point the deck is not looking it's best. The key is finding a deck sealer that is easy to use and provides the correct protection.
"Easy to use" is important because the task of sealing a deck is a difficult one, that people tend to put it off. Our Deck Seal was designed with this in mind. It's so easy to apply that anybody can do it, painting skills are not necessary. The deck sealer can be put on with a long haired staining brush. This deck sealer can also be applied through an airless sprayer. Our water based sealer is thicker than most traditional sealers, because of the high quality resins used in it. The Deck Seal is a hybrid sealer meaning that it is an oil resign, encapsulated in a water droplet. This provides you with the easy application of a water based sealer, along with the high grade resigns of an oil based stain. Being a water based formula clean up is very easy just soap and hot water.
After Deck Seal is applied it dries clear (transparent) so that you can see the beautiful grains in wood decking . Deck Seal (Natural tint) does have a slight tint that actually enhances the look of the decking. We now offer the Deck Seal in 6 different colored tints. These colored tints allow you to have the great protection of our deck sealer, while also having the great color selection of a high grade stain. The tints provide additional UV protection from the suns damaging rays. It's the suns rays that "gray" the wood.
Deck Seal coats the wood not allowing water to enter the wood but enabling the wood to breath, which is very important. Wood needs to breath, because in some situations moisture gets under the wood where there was no deck sealer applied. But being able to breath allows the wood to dry quickly. The key is not letting the water enter the wood from the front sides. If water can't enter the wood then mold can't grow.
Deck Seal has mold inhibitors in the stain that will prevent mold growth.
Deck Seal provides the 3 biggest factors that a good exterior stain should provide.
Provides UV Protection
Resists mold growth
Deck Seal is an environmentally friendly solution:
It has no Odor
It has low VOC's
it is water based
Another benefit of using Deck Seal is when it comes time for another coat of stain, there is no sanding, no scraping. If you didn't let it go to long without another coat you can just spray it right over the last coat. If you did let the sealer go a little to long on the deck, just quickly clean the deck and spray the deck sealer on again.
|Directions||Each gallon will cover approximately 250sq ft. We always suggest for best results, to apply two medium coats. In order to determine the amount of sealer you will need, follow this simple formula: Take the square foot of your desired area and divide by 150. This will give you the number of gallons it would take to optimally clean that surface. Example: 3,000 square feet / 150 = 20 gallons|
|Coverage||If the deck is not new then a complete cleaning is needed prior to applying the Deck Seal. We at Wash Safe manufacture a product called Deck Wash, which is an Eco-safe cleaning solution that will remove all mold spores and organic debris leaving the deck looking like new. The Deck Wash also removes the microscopic outer layer of dead wood and leaves a fresh layer of beautiful cedar (cleaners like bleach will not remove that layer of wood). Deck Wash is the perfect preparation for Deck Seal. Read about Deck Wash here. Allow 48 hours to dry. Apply Deck Seal, it can be brushed, rolled or sprayed, spraying being the easiest. Apply 1 liberal coat. Deck Seal will provide 3 years of protection, at some point during the 3rd year we recommend applying another coat of Deck Seal, if you keep that schedule cleaning between coats will not be necessary.|
Really nice on my mahogany wood deck. Review by Dick Lancaster
I used the Deck Seal on a mahogany deck if you want to enjoy the look of the mahogany wood without bright tints and highlighted colors I suggest using this, this was just what I was looking for. You can feel the product in the wood, this isn't some watered dowm Thompsons sealer, this really is nice stuff. (Posted on 7/11/12)
Easy to use, dries quickly. Review by Kurt Silverstein
We bought this for our dock, we needed a true "waterbase" sealer, we didn't want oil drips going in the water. It was easy to use, it goes on thick so that it doesn't drip much but dries to the touch quickly. I even walked on it when it was wet and it did not leave foot prints. Our dock is pressure treated, it looks just perfect, I highly recommend it. (Posted on 7/10/12)
